The Broomstick [Tom Billy setting]

I got this setting of the Broomstick reel from a manuscript that was given to my Dad in the late 1970's by Peg Morley. It belonged to her brother Daniel who learned the fiddle from Tom Billy Murphy. Dad photocopied the book and returned it to Peg. There's lovely unique version of many popular tunes in the collection as well as tunes that no one plays anymore. I'll try to add a picture of the page at some stage. Let me know what you think of it :)

The Abbey Reel

This version was popular at sessions in Cork city during the nineties.

I think the setting came from a Liz Carroll album.

It's normally played in a higher key in what some people like to call "A minor" - I think this is the key of "F" or if you were shouting to a guitar/bazouki player you might say "G minor"
